Ættarmót — Knitting pattern

Ættarmót plays with ‘mix and mayhem’—diverse motifs and earthy neutrals come together across a cardigan built in two halves. After steeking and blocking, crochet bands and a set of small buttons complete a lively, heirloom‑ready piece.

Knitting needles & notions

3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circulars 40 & 60–80 cm; 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm DPNs; 3.5 mm (US E/4) crochet hook; 13 small buttons.

Gauge

18 sts and 24 rows = 10 × 10 cm in St st using 4.5 mm needles. Check gauge and adjust needle size if necessary.

Construction

Each half of the body and sleeves is worked in the round to the underarm, then joined to work half of the yoke in the round. Front and back steeks are secured and cut; bands are worked with crochet. Mirror the steps for the second half before joining.
