Hjörð — Knitting pattern

Hjörð (“Herd”) captures the energy of reindeer dashing over winter wilds. The cover is worked as a seamless tube in stranded colorwork before being grafted closed for a clean, reversible finish. It’s an ideal quick knit in Álafosslopi that adds bold Nordic character to your living space.

Knitting needles & notions

• Circular needle 6 mm (60 cm)
• Cushion insert 40 × 40 cm

Gauge

13 sts and 18 rows = 10 × 10 cm in St st using 6 mm needles.

Construction

Cast on 96 sts with color A and knit the stranded chart for a total of 67 rounds, trapping floats when any color runs for more than 7 stitches. Bind off, weave in ends, and from the right side graft the top closed using color F. Rinse gently and dry flat. Insert the cushion and graft the lower edge with color A for a tidy finish.
