Icelandic Yule Lad - Sausage Thief

Bjúgnakrækir or Sausage Thief (20th Dec.) is the ninth Yule Lad to make his way down from the mountains.

Once he spots a house, he heads straight to the kitchen. In the old days, he had to climb up to the rafters to get at the tasty sausages hung there to smoke over the fire. These days life is a lot easier for Sausage Thief - he simply opens the refrigerator door!

Size: in cm: 11,50 /in.: 4,52

The ninth was Sausage Swiper,
a shifty pilferer.
He climbed up to the rafters
and raided food from there.

Sitting on a crossbeam
in soot and in smoke,
he fed himself on sausage
fit for gentlefolk.

Story of the Icelandic Yule Lads

The Santa lads arrive one by one over the final 13 nights leading up to Christmas and they leave small gifts in shoes that children place on windowsills.
