Penguin Lopapeysa — Knitting Kit

Penguin Lopapeysa is a cheerful colorwork sweater designed by Olga Begak. Knit in Ístex Léttlopi, it combines a classic Icelandic lopapeysa silhouette with a charming ring of penguins around the yoke. The palette of stone blue, air blue, white, black, and mimosa creates a fresh, wintry look that still feels playful and graphic.

Knitting needles & notions

Circular needles 3.5 mm (80 cm) and 4.5 mm (80 cm).
4 Stitch markers, 4 stitch holders, and a darning needle may also be needed to complete this pattern. Please note that these items are not included in our kits, so make sure you have them on hand or purchase them separately before you begin.

Gauge

18 stitches × 23 rows = 10 × 10 cm / 4 × 4 in in stockinette stitch.

Construction

Body and sleeves are worked separately in the round from the lower edge to the underarms, then joined to work the yoke in the round. Short rows shape the back before the penguin yoke chart is worked. The sweater is finished with a ribbed neckband.
