Síðsumarskápa — Knitting pattern

Original design by: Védís Jónsdóttir

Síðsumarskápa is an elegant late‑summer coat that combines the rustic charm of Icelandic wool with practical design for everyday wear. Worked seamlessly in the round from the lower edge, the coat features a steeked front opening so the striking colorwork can flow uninterrupted around the body. Moss‑stitch details at hems, cuffs and front bands provide crisp texture, while a tall, folded collar adds warmth and structure. Body and sleeves are knit in the round and then joined for the yoke; the front bands and collar are worked afterwards for a clean, tailored finish.

Construction

The result is a durable, warm coat that’s as functional in the city as it is on a windy Icelandic shoreline.
