STROLLING CHICKENS SOCKS

The Socks are playful toe-up Icelandic wool socks that combine durability, warmth, and charming design. Worked in Hosuband, a reinforced Icelandic wool yarn, they are breathable yet strong, making them ideal for everyday wear. The design features striped foot sections and delightful chicken motifs on the leg, creating a cheerful and distinctive Nordic look. Designed by Norwegian knitwear designer Tove Richter, the socks reflect her focus on expressive motifs and practical construction. The socks are knitted toe-up with heel shaping and ribbed cuff for a secure fit. The result is a durable, breathable pair of Icelandic wool socks that retain their shape and character over time.

What’s in the kit

The yarn included in the kit is enough to make the largest size of the socks. Knitting pins are optional and included only if you choose the ‘With needles’ variant. Kit yarn follows the original palette below. Pattern format: PDF.

Note: Red, black, grey, and brown leftover yarn for embroidery details are not included.

Gauge

17 sts in stockinette stitch = 10 cm on 4.5 mm needles.

Construction

The socks are worked toe-up in the round, beginning with toe shaping and increasing to full foot width. The foot is knitted in alternating color stripes, followed by a shaped heel worked back and forth. The leg features striped sections and chicken motif chart. Embroidery details are added after knitting. The socks are finished with ribbed cuff.
